Scary Games For Parties
Scary Games are fun for all party age groups, though is much easier to prepare and to succeed with them with children and teenagers (including scary Halloween party games) than with adults.
Above all children, followed by teens, are much more sensitive to terror and scary slumber party games. Good for you, children or teenagers! You are likely to have more fun with these kind of games.
So the challenge will be to create scare party games and to make them fun for adults too.
Scary movie fun
Watch a scary movie of your own choice. For me I find pretty
scary:
I
Am Legend with Will
Smith as the lead. They may not
advertise it as a horror movie, but it will really thrill you. Then as
the credits begin to roll, cut the power to the house, sneak into the
room with a flashlight and flick it on and off, screaming as loud as
you can! It sure will make some impact on people.
Then you can go and try to imitate those scenes of the movie that are the scariest ones or try to imitate the face of the killer, monster, vampire, etc. (bad guy or beast) of the movie with the lights off or almost off. Just do it as soon as the movie has finished so people are still feeling sensitive about it.
Enlist the help of an accomplice. Have them put on a costume related to the murderer or monster of the movie or as any other scary character, such as a demon, a vampire, a witch or a serial killer, and come into the room making noises and screaming with a plastic knife at a quiet moment during the movie.
Scary campfire stories
You can't have a campfire inside your house, but you CAN have scary campfire stories! Get people to explain the scariest stories or adventures that they have ever experienced in their lives. The scariest narrator wins the contest.
Another possibility for scary games would be to have a Horror Movie Trivia game, about scary movies, murderers, strange deaths and other weird "facts".
Have you watched any of
the SAW
movies? They have
become a modern classic
movie series like A Nightmare on Elm Street was in the 80s. Let's play
a SAW game!
One of you gets a mask of the puppet with the white face and red cheeks that threatens people to play his super scary games. They act like the talking puppet in the movie, talking with a low scary-threatening voice: "I want you to play a game... You have to find a key inside the apartment within 10 minutes, or one of you will die!"
Start a timer and turn off the lights. One person only has a flashlight; they are the leader, and have to find that key (which won't be anywhere!). They won't find the key, but they will spend 10 scary minutes looking for it, whilst the puppet's scary voice reminds them every so often how much time is left.
At the end, the joke is simply to tell them that the key isn't really hidden at all! People will have had a lot of fun AND some creepy shivers too.
Scary tree game for kids
Here's one of the easiest scary games. First get a Scary
Tree Costume, or make
one with lots of tree leaves and branches.
When you are almost ready to play with the kids, put the costume on and when everyone is distracted (the kids, grandparents and others), jump up and scare the heck out of them.
If it works then that means you're a great scary party planner. Also, the kids will be jumpy and easier to scare with other games!
