Luau Party Games. From Now on You Are in Hawaii :-)

Luau party games are ideal outdoor games specially on the beach and with a sunny day. We all have those images of colorful t-shirts on men and ladies with flower laces around their necks and colourful skirts or bandanas around their hips dancing hula (traditional Hawaiian dance) and swaying their hips following mele (traditional Hawaiian chant or song).

First you will need to go to the beach, to the countryside, to a park, to your house courtyard, etc. In 2 words: GO Outdoors. Ideal spot: On the beach.

Luau party games are very often ideal for children and teens too as games tend to be slightly simple and physical. The luau theme is always fun to create and it is recommended for adults to enjoy the party with a shot of margarita.

Let's go for luau party games for you:

1.Pass the balloon. Blow up 2 or more balloons according to the number of teams that you make which will be lining up. They will have to pass the balloon from the person in front of the line to the next person behind in the line. When the balloon gets to the player at the back of the line then this person runs at the very front of the line and so on. The team who passes the balloon and rotates everybody in the team faster wins.

2.Luau scavenger hunt. Place in a slightly hidden place a t-shirt, a colorful bandana or a skirt looking a bit Hawaiian. That will become the spot where the action takes place and you will get someone ready there to test the teams. Make teams and get them to find the t-shirt, skirt, etc. and once found it they will have to hula dance blindfolded whilst they are being recorded with a photo camera, camcorder, mobile phone. Then you play the videos, laugh out loud at them and decide which was the team who did it better. You can give that team a prize.

3.Hula hoop competition. Get hula hoops and find out who keeps the hula hoop spinning around the waist the longest whilst the rest of the participants throw them flowers and rice (Luau themed, isn't it?)

4. Hula dance competition with men included will be more funny. You can learn to hula dance following the instructions of the video below. Don't miss it. In order to learn how to hula dance you will need a full mirror, a sense of rhythm and some grace and sensuality. Optional: play mele music (the traditional music that accompanies hula dance). You may change it for reggae music for example.

You can teach others how to hula dance and then have a dancing competition. Variation. You could have couples. She hula dances whilst he tries to dance around her and embellish her dance. Use your imagination.
