When you have these closest people around, what could be a better way to celebrate the holidays than throwing the most memorable Christmas party?

It's great to chat and hang out with the people closest to you during this special occasion, but what makes the party even more exciting is the inclusion of some fun party games in it.

Here is a list of Christmas-themed games that guarantees to add some flair to your Christmas party.  These will definitely be able to convey the spirit of the Yuletide season which adds up to the true essence of the holiday festivity.

Christmas Party Games: Carol Charades

Almost everyone is familiar with the game charades. In fact, charades is so popular that it always seems to be the favorite during parties. One great idea to incorporate a Christmas theme into this famous game is by playing Christmas Carol charades.

This fun game for all ages is very engaging and can generate a good deal of interaction, as players try to act out the titles of Christmas Carol favorites. And the best thing is, you don't have to spend on a lot of expensive items to play this game: all you need are pieces of paper, a pen, and a small bowl or container to put the pieces of paper in. Here is a rundown of the basics.

Think of the most popular Christmas carols and write them down on the pieces of paper. You can also ask for one or two title suggestions from guests and put them all in the container once everything is all set. Divide the guests into two teams with equal number of players on each side. To make it more interesting, you can divide the guests based on their gender (men vs. women). This makes the game more competitive and fun.

Each group takes turns with a player from each side trying to act out the title of the Christmas carol while his or her team tries to guess it. Keep in mind that no sounds or mouthing of words should be made in conveying the clues. Set a time limit for each clue and the team with the most number of guesses within the prescribed time wins the game!

Christmas Party Games: Christmas Guess Who

This is one of the classic games for kids that can easily be adapted to a Christmas theme. All you need is just some preparation in the selection of one word clues, such as "reindeer" and "snowman" to make it simpler for younger players.

First, you select a few simple Christmas words and phrases for the kids to act out. One child stands in front while the others sit on the floor and guess what he or she is miming. Once they get the answer correctly, a new actor is chosen and the play continues.

For older kids, the game can be tweaked a little to make it more sophisticated. Divide them into teams and have them select around ten Christmas-themed topics. The catch is the topics they have decided on are for the other team to act out. Screen each topic for its difficulty. A higher point value should be assigned for more difficult ones. The team who garnered the highest points wins the game.

Another variation of the game is adding a race element to it. Create clues while keeping them secret to the players. Give the teams the same clues which they will have to mime simultaneously. The first team to guess all correctly wins.

Christmas Party Games: Christmas Drawing Game

If you have a white board and an erasable marker at home and if you think you really had enough of charades, why not try to play Christmas drawing game, which is equally engaging and fun? Instead of trying to act out the titles, guests get an opportunity to showcase their skills in art by trying to draw them! The game has less to do with being the most artistic among the guests is; it’s lies more on the creativity in conveying the message to your teammates through drawing clues in the most decipherable way!

Try to come up with the most interesting clues beforehand, write them down in strips of paper and put them in a small container. First, the players are divided in teams just like in charades. Decide which team gets to draw a clue first.

The theme can be anything related to Christmas: Holiday, snow, three kings, and Christmas presents are some of the most commonly used terms. A player from one team chooses one clue out from the container and tries to draw something that best describes the word written on the piece of paper. The most important rule of the game is not to use alphabet and numbers which might give the most obvious clue to the written word. Allot a time limit (one minute is enough) for the team members to guess what their teammate is trying to make. The team who gets the most points wins the game.

Christmas Party Games: Christmas Pair

This game is a highly entertaining one for the youngsters in particular, but grown-ups can definitely enjoy it as well. The rules are simple, and what is great about this Christmas party game is that it doesn't require any props in order to play.

Let everyone participate by making all the people in the room stand together. Call out a number and the guests need to form into groups of exactly that number of people. Anybody who can't fit themselves into any of the groups is out of the game. The number of participants gradually decreases as the game progresses until there are only three people left. Call out "two" and the last pair formed is the winner of the game.

Christmas Party Games: What's in the Stocking?

Give your guests a fun time figuring out what holiday objects are inside the Christmas stocking with this game. You will be amazed to see how many objects they can correctly identify as they try to feel what is inside. No peeking!

Make use of your large pair of stockings, or a stocking ornament, and fill it with an assortment of objects related to Christmas, such as Christmas tree balls, bells, candles, angel, star, mistletoe, pine cones and the like. You can also throw in a couple of wild card items to confuse everybody. (Don't forget to make a note of what's inside for easier judging of this Christmas party game!) Placing more that 20 objects inside makes the game last longer and more fun. Use a ribbon to tie the open end of the sock.

The guests will sit in a circle and each person gets an opportunity to guess what is inside the stocking by only touching the objects from the outside. Have them write down on a piece of paper what they were able to feel. Allotting one minute to each person is enough. The stocking is then passed in clockwise direction and the same process is repeated.

The game continues until the last person writes his or her guesses. Untie the ribbon and take out the objects one by one. It's fun to see the expression of the guests as they find out what they had guessed correctly, and what they hadn't. The person who gets the most correct guesses is the winner.

Christmas Party Games: Christmas Gift Wrap Relay

If wrapping presents for your charitable donations sounds like a challenge to everybody, why not make a Christmas party game out of it to spice up your gathering? All you will need are recycled gift boxes, pile of scissors, a pile of tape, used wrapping paper, and Christmas ornaments that you can find in your home to serve as gifts. Divide the guests into two teams of equal numbers. This game is a relay, and it can be played in different ways.

One way is to have each player wrap one gift. The player must completely finish his or her gift wrapping and then tag his or her next teammate, who also does the same. The game continues until each player has wrapped one gift. The winner is judged based on neatness and speed.

If this mode doesn't suit you, you can make it more of a team effort. Set up stations for each team, each one dedicated for gifts, boxes, wrappers and tapes. Have one player at each station. The player at the first station selects a gift and takes it to the next player at the boxes station. He selects a box and takes it to the next player and so on until the gift is wrapped.

The game can be adjusted to suit the kids. Have the wrapping papers already cut to size, and the tape properly dispensed. This makes the game a lot easier for them to manage.

Christmas Party Games: Wrap the Christmas Gift

Here’s a game that somewhat plays similarly to Christmas Gift Wrap Relay, except this Christmas party game plays with pairs instead of teams. You don't have to spend on any materials if you have some gift wrapping paper, scissors, roll of tape, ribbons, and gift boxes at home.

Divide the guests in pairs and ask them to stand around a table large enough for them to play on. Every pair should have one wrapping paper, scissors, roll of tape, ribbon, and a box. The most challenging and fun part of the game is that the players in a pair must put their arm around each other, leaving just one hand for each player to use in the game.

Once you give the go signal, the pairs must work together on wrapping the box. The pairs are bound together, so one player uses their left hand, and another their right. They have to wrap the box as fast as they can, and the first pair to wrap the box wins. Credit should also be given to the pair that wrapped the box in the neatest and most beautiful way.

Christmas Party Games: Drop the Snowball

You need a big room in order to play this game. Better yet, play it outdoors for a larger and more open space. All you will need are Christmas balls (preferably white) of the same sizes, and a couple of baskets.

Divide the guests into pairs, with each pair having one Christmas ball. Set the baskets a couple of yards away from the starting mark, keeping the baskets with some space in between. As the signal for the game to start goes off, the pairs have to move towards their baskets, standing back to back with the ball tucked between their backs. If the ball happens to fall, they have to go back to the starting line and repeat. The ultimate goal is to drop the ball in the basket and the first pair to do so wins the game.

You can make this last longer by arranging a relay, or having more than one ball per team laid out on a table, and make each time complete the drop multiple times.

Christmas Party Games: Christmas Memory Game

Find out who has the sharpest memory among the guests by having including this Christmas party games classic. Christmas Memory Game brings the challenge to the guests and provides some competitive atmosphere which definitely adds a fun element to your party.

Prepare a large tray and some Christmas-related objects like candies, ornaments, crafts, Santa Claus dummy, the list goes on. Put the Christmas objects on the tray. Arrange them properly so that each item is visible to the guests. Show the tray with objects on it to each  guest so they can have a thorough look.

Give 10-20 seconds for this one before removing the tray and placing it somewhere out of everybody’s sight. Give a piece of paper and a pen to each guest because they need to note down whichever things they remember. Allow three minutes for them to note down the objects. Try to show the tray to the guests once again as you collect their notes. The fun part is seeing their silly expressions as they find out by themselves what they’ve left out. The guest who has written down the most number of correct objects is the winner of the game.

Aside from the object itself, you could also ask the guests to note down the objects' colors as well. This increases the pressure and makes the game even more complicated. The game will look more hilarious seeing everyone really having a hard time recalling things they have just seen awhile ago!
